FINAL DAY AT SMASH..NEW DAY AT DANCE FUSION

Today I close the doors at our SMASH home. We've relocated to Dance Fusion. Although the move is exciting and I know change and growth is good, I cant help but feel sad leaving this space that I made my second home for myself and for so many others. The walls are bare now, the rooms are quiet, I hear crickets! lol. No more music, no more kids laughing and playing, no more parents watching TV in the lobby and chatting, no more Karate yelling, no more LOUD Base coming from Kickboxing class. ITS QUIET! So it makes me sad, but I'm happy for the move, the classes at Fusion are very professional and challenging. This is good for the students and it is good for me too, I finally get a little peace of mind for the first time in almost 5 years of this SMASH craziness!! haha. So I have a lot of mixed feeling going on right now. I want to cry but at the same time I am feeling joy. I love my SMASH kids and this move will be great for them, that is all that matters....

SMASH MOVES TO DANCE FUSION by Ms. Lisa

Wow what a summer this has been, its been rough I will be honest but the kids all make it so worth while. I took it day by day trying to figure it out. Best option was to move and merge with one of MY instructors from my child hood years, Ms. Kathy at Dance Fusion. Yes I will miss the name SMASH, but it will live on in all these SMASH children's memories forever. I am not worried about it, a name is just a name. Dance Fusion will have some SMASH Fusion now..lol. We are a unique diverse close family the SMASH family and I, but it will all work out for the best. At Dance Fusion there will be more classes for them to choose from, and they will be challenged more. My mission of bringing more cultural classes to Las Vegas is complete, I never in a million years thought my classes would be taught at one of the largest competitive dance schools in Las Vegas, Dance Fusion. This is a postive thing for every SMASH student. Change is good, growth is good, and I am happy.

SMASH has had an impact on my life because I'm more active. I love it because I am not at home just sitting on the couch watching TV. I have friends at SMASH and I can be myself here. SMASH has taught me more Discipline and responsibility. I love all of my teachers because they are very nice and I can trust them. Smash is like my second home and makes me feel so alive! I am able to escape everything that makes me feel sad and frustrated, I am very happy with SMASH and everyone who teaches me new things every day. I love coming to smash it gets out my anger and it takes everything out my head. And its exiting getting to go to new classes every year like this year i went back to bellydance, and thought i should try tap. And i forgot one thing i have bellydance,jazz,ballet,tap,salsa.My two best teachers from dance from when i started coming hear are..... Ms.Lisa, Ms.Hazel and im just so glad to be hear and learn somethin new for the first time!!!

WHAT MAKES SMASH??

Value. We value family here. Coming here really feels like home. Its my home and my students are my visitors. I wanted to make it a Starbux feel, I had imagined parents on their laptops while their children were in class. I don't like the whole pick up and drop off. I like the parents to hang out and chat among each other. These 4 years and 2 months have been so rewarding for me. I believe things fall into your life for a reason. SMASH somehow came to my life, I did imagine it and dreamed it but never did I know what was coming. I am a stronger person because of my experiences here, SMASH is something I will cherish forever. I am content with my accomplishments here. Finacially we all wish we weren't going through a recession but I learned so much more having survived during a recession as long I have. However time is ticking now, and SMASH's next chapter is soon to come...

Meantime, My Salsa classes and Bellydance classes are doing amazing! I signed on 20 new students in August. My marketing seems to be working, but like now I work long hours to get things organized.

SMASH has been an inspiration for me, I have grown so much as a business woman since I've been here. I never dreamed it would be like this, so rewarding. It's not just about having passion for dance and music, its about making a difference in a child's life when you can make them smile and make their day. I call SMASH my SMASH Family because I love all them as if they were family, I want all of them to be happy and if SMASH made them happy, then my mission is complete.

PAJAMA PARTY AT SMASH!!

NEXT FRIDAY NIGHT IS PAJAMA PARTY PARENT'S NIGHT OUT. Parent can leave their kids at SMASH while they go out on a Friday night! Happens every last Friday of the month. Only $10 from 8pm to Midnight. The kids will be with me, check blog later to see how it turned out!!

Kick boxing class

Its been a while since I've taken kickboxing again. 2 months to be exact. In just two day my body is starting to transform, Yesterday I took the class with Stacey and today with Julius. They each have their different style of teaching so its good to take classes from both of them and work out different areas of your body. I also taught my salsa for kids class and bellydance for kids, so today was very physically productive for me.---Lisa Valdes Smash Director

Smash has been an inspiration to me. It is a place where I can go and have a AMAZING time dancing. At Smash it feels like there is no tomorrow. Ms. Lisa is my aunt, and also a great instructor. I would never have the imagination like my aunt to create something so amazing as Smash. Everyone in this world should be going to Smash, because I bet they would love it as much as i do. Smash Valentines Dance

We are ready for the Valentines Dance tomorrow! We have DJ ready, balloons ready, magic show ready, food and drinks ready and special performances ready to go!! should be alot of fun. i watched the SMASH dance team practice their routine yesterday, looks really cute!!

I LOVE smash! My favorite teacher is Ms.Lisa. She was my first dance teacher and she taught me bellydancing.She inspired me to dance.I take dance team know but I have other dance classes too. I have bellydancing, zumba, salsa, jazz,hipp hop,ballet,tap and dance team.My dance team teacher is Ms.Ameris.I also like dance team because of the friends I have wich is Kiera,Nichole.Lilly C., Lilly O., Bianca, and Ivy.

Here at S.M.A.S.H is relly fun for all ages.I love ALL the teachers here. They push me to the limit and I love that because I need to push myself to the limit too! I have been here at S.M.A.S.H since Dec.07. Here at S.M.A.S.H, everyone is a family. While I'm dancing, my brother does karate. I love the recitals too, the recitals are really exciting! I LOVE THE COSTUMES!!! The classes I take are: Jazz, Jazz/hip-hop, ballet,tap,and many more! I am also on the Dance Team here! I am one of the co-captins. Our teacher couldn't decide who would be the captin so there's two of us. I love S.M.A.S.H I love to dance and have all the fun I would like! But I have to consintrate on my skills and some new moves that I might not know yet.

Smash is like a family to me. They are all like brother's and sister's to me. Everyone is very nice to me, and I feel really safe here. Since I've been here, I hade made so many friends. I have been dancing at S.M.A.S.H for 4 years. Its really exciting! I can never pick my favorite teacher! I would recomend for S.M.A.S.H for young children , older kid, and adult. Everyone is welcome here at S.M.A.S.H.

SALSA DANCE CLASS A HIT!

We just started our new session for Beginners Salsa and Intermediate Salsa at SMASH Dance Studio this past Monday. We had over 30people sign up for this dance class! Randy and Jahnin with Naiboa Dance Company are doing a fantastic job. I went ahead and jumped in the Intermediate class. I havent trained in a long time so it was a lot of fun to join the class. The shine steps were a little difficult for me but the partner work I loved! Randy always makes the class seem like a party!
